Department Description

    Automotive Services is responsible for the operation maintenance and control of 87 vehicles ranging from passenger sedans, Public Safety vehicles and light trucks to larger diesel units designed to carry bulk items and trash recovery.  In addition we are responsible for 18 units of Bobcat, utility and construction equipment.

    Automotive Services also manages vehicle registrations and state inspections, tax and fuel permits as well as providing specifications and design for additional and replacement vehicles as needed. We are responsible for inspecting and placing all vehicles in service as they are received as well as processing all required Department of Motor Vehicle paperwork. We also process all New York City Parking Violations and New York State (NYS) equipment violations when necessary and assist in vehicle accident and abuse investigations. We also provide follow-up driver counseling and conduct driver awareness programs to improve employee driving skills and compliance. We assist with the annual driver license checks through NYS DMV abstracts.

    We accomplish as many running repairs as possible in house and closely monitor our mechanical vendors to insure compliance with our repair and maintenance requests, all vehicles are checked going into and coming-out of a repair facility.
