The department is responsible for maintaining and cleaning all 35 high-rise buildings. Daily duties include cleaning all hallways, stairways and lobbies, elevators, basement areas,dumpsters pads, laundry rooms, vents and ducts, compactor rooms and chutes and areas around each building; removing and recycling all items in compactor rooms; removing all refuge from building to dumpster pad; and replacing light bulbs in hallways, stairways, and porticos. It is also responsible for distributing flyers, removing graffiti, interacting with co-operators, ordering supplies for the department, handling all flood emergencies and snow removal, and policing areas to prevent vandalism.
